Home Market Releases for December 3rd, 2019
December 4th, 2019
Tuesday is the day after Cyber Monday, also know as, “One of the worst days of the year to release something on the home market.” There’s not a lot to talk about, while the biggest release of the week is also one of the biggest disappointments of the year, but the less said about that, the better. As for Pick of the Week contenders, we have Big Trouble in Little China: Collector’s Edition and that’s it. There are a few other releases that are close to that level, but none that reach it.

Featured Blu-ray / DVD Review: Life Partners
March 22nd, 2015
Life Partners came out in limited release last December. It earned good reviews; however, as I've said repeatedly in the past, good reviews are generally not good enough for limited release. Featured Blu-ray / DVD Review: Welcome to the Jungle
March 24th, 2014

Limited Releases: Looking for Redemption
June 28th, 2013
There are nine films on this week's list, with quite a few having strong reviews or impressive casts. Unfortunately, only one of them, I'm So Excited, has both. It is a return to light comedy by Pedro Almodovar and that could help it become the biggest limited release hit of the week. However, it is a foreign language film, which will limit its potential to expand significantly.

Limited Releases: Under the Weather
October 4th, 2012
There are a large number of limited releases on this week's list, but very few have a serious shot at box office success. There are several films with casts with strong name recognition that were earning pre-release buzz, Butter, The Oranges, and The Paperboy, but none of them are earning strong enough reviews to suggest they will thrive in limited release. Fat Kid Rules the World might be the film with the best chance at mainstream success on this week's list, while Escape Fire might do well for a documentary.
