"Nature Horror" Movies

← See all keywords

Horror films in which the “villain” is a natural force that is somewhat realistically depicted. To emphasize, the "Nature" part of Nature Horror should be contrasted with fantastical or supernatural forces, as opposed to nature vs. manmade. In fact, many examples of this genre include genetic engineering gone awry or chemical spills that mutate animals in nature. A lot of Creature Feature films would also fit under this subgenre, even though the creatures in question would break the laws of physics; however, most recent examples of Creature Feature movies, like Eight-Legged Freaks, are not horror movies and tend to be more comedic.
