Featured Blu-ray / DVD Review: White Christmas
October 11th, 2014
I previously reviewed White Christmas the first time it came out on Blu-ray. I have nothing new to say about the movie, but last time I only got the DVD to review. How does the film look and sound on High Definition? And is the Blu-ray worth picking up if you missed it the first time like I did?

DVD and Blu-ray Releases for December 14th, 2010
December 13th, 2010
This week we have the last of the major summer blockbusters hitting the home market, and not only did Despicable Me earn $250 million domestically and more than $500 million worldwide, it also earned amazing reviews. This makes it an obvious contender for Pick of the Week. Unfortunately, the screener is late, and I hate to award that honor to a release when this is the case. As far as its competition is concerned, there are two main releases vying for that title: The Quintessential Guy Maddin! on DVD and The Town on Blu-ray. Despite my well-documented pro-Canada bias, I'm giving it to the latter.

Featured Blu-ray / DVD Review: White Christmas
December 12th, 2010
In 1941, Irving Berlin wrote a song called "White Christmas" that was sung by Bing Crosby. It wasn't an instant hit, but by the Christmas of 1942 it had topped the chart and stayed for many weeks, returning to the top the next year, and the year after that. In fact, it has been called the best selling single of all time. In 1954, it was part of a Christmas movie called White Christmas, which was the biggest hit of the year and has since become a perennial classic of its own. The latest home market release came out early last month. The screener was delayed, but the review is finally here.

DVD and Blu-ray Releases for November 2nd, 2010
November 2nd, 2010
It's a good week in terms of quality as the biggest hit and the best movie of the year hits the home market this week. However, it appears that release might have scared away the competition. Of course, that release is Toy Story 3, and the 4-Disc Blu-ray / DVD Combo Pack, which is not only the Pick of the Week, it might be the Pick of the Year.
