Synopsis

When Chinese filmmaker Nanfu Wang first came to America, Florida seemed like an exotic frontier full of theme parks, prehistoric swamp creatures, and sunburned denizens. As she travels wide-eyed from one city to another, she eventually encounters a charismatic young drifter named Dylan. Fascinated by his rejection of society's rules and unsure of his past, Nanfu follows Dylan with her camera on a journey that spans years, takes her across America, and explores the meaning of freedom. But as Nanfu delves deeper into Dylan’s world, she discovers something that calls her entire worldview into question.

Limited and VOD Releases: Will any of the Limited Releases Get Lucky at the Box Office?

September 29th, 2017

Lucky

This week’s selection of limited releases is mixed. There are a couple of potential Oscar contenders, Lucky and Our Souls at Night, but neither is expected to be a major player at the box office. In fact, Our Souls at Night is playing on Video on Demand, so its box office potential is close to zero. Likewise, Window Horses, Bugs, and I am Another You are all earning 100% positive reviews, but none are expected to find breakout success on the art house scene. More...
