Featured TV on DVD Review: Penny Dreadful: Season One

Penny Dreadful debuted on Showtime in May with its first season ending at the end of June. Normally, TV on DVD releases come out just in time for the next season to begin, but it is coming out now, likely to take advantage of the Christmas shopping season. Was this a smart move? Is it worth checking out? Or is the competition for TV on DVD releases much too strong at this time of year?

Featured Blu-ray / DVD Review: Toy Story of Terror

Toy Story of Terror was a TV special that aired last year around Halloween. They are releasing it on DVD and Blu-ray in late summer, because if they waited till Halloween, they would have to deal with a flood of Christmas releases. Since it is just a 30-minute TV special, it runs just 21 minutes without commercials, so even if the short is worth watching, there needs to be solid extras to make it worth picking up. Is that the case?

The Character of Tinker Bell is one of the most famous is all of animation history. First appearing in Peter Pan almost 60 years ago, the character became the defacto mascot for Walt Dinsey since then. In 2008, Tinker Bell was released direct-to-DVD and despite some trepidation, the film earn amazing reviews and was a big hit on the home market. This year, the four direct-to-DVD release comes out, but will Tinker Bell: Secret of the Wings live up to the previous releases? Or is the franchise getting tired.
