Streaming Releases: These New Releases are not Half-Hearted
May 2nd, 2020
The Half of It leads the way when it comes to streaming releases. The coming-of-age teenage romance movie should please most viewers. On the other hand, Hollywood has the loudest buzz when it comes to the TV series end of the list, but its reviews are disappointing.

Featured Blu-ray and DVD Review: Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom
September 17th, 2018
I hated Jurassic World and Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom actually earned weaker reviews, so I was apprehensive about reviewing this film. On the other hand, while the film’s Tomatometer Score was lower, as was its box office, I’ve heard some people say this is the better film. Am I going to be pleasantly surprised? DVD and Blu-ray Releases for October 22nd, 2013
October 21st, 2013
This week on the home market is... well... it's short. Last week, according to Amazon.com, there were 459 new releases or reissues. This week there are 161. Fortunately, there are a few releases of note, including The Conjuring, which pulled in more than $300 million worldwide on a production budget of just $20 million. Fortunately, it really deserved this success and the DVD or Blu-ray Combo Pack are contenders for Pick of the Week. Other contenders include Before Midnight on DVD or Blu-ray Combo Pack and The Way Way Back on DVD or Blu-ray Combo Pack. In the end, it was literally a coin toss and The Conjuring won.

Featured Blu-ray / DVD Review: Life of Pi
March 21st, 2013
Life of Pi had the kind of buzz most films would kill for. From the very beginning, it was seen as a major player during Awards Season. In the end, it won four Oscars, including the second Best Director Oscar win for Ang Lee. On the other hand, many critics, even those who gave the film positive reviews, said it was more impressive as a technical achievement than has a story. Will I be won over by the story? Will I merely like the film's technical prowess? Or will I be one of the rare critics to simply not like the movie at all?
