Theater counts: Beetlejuice Beetlejuice set to open in a massive 4,575 theaters
September 5th, 2024
-3-News.jpg)
It was another weekend of box office glory for Deadpool & Wolverine, as the film once again claimed the top spot on the domestic charts by earning $15.5 million, taking its 38-day North American total to $599.8 million, and has since crossed the $600 million threshold, currently enjoying a domestic total of $606 million. This weekend, two new wide releases make their way into North American cinemas, with one poised to knock the dynamic duo from their perch once and for all.
While Deadpool & Wolverine has been in the spotlight for the majority of its run, it is time to shine some light, and box office, on this weekend’s most anticipated release, Beetlejuice-Beetlejuice. The long-awaited sequel to Beetlejuice debuts in 4,575 theaters this weekend, tying Toy Story 4 as the seventh-widest release of all time. 36 years after the original film, the dark fantasy-comedy brings back Michael Keaton as the titular character while featuring an array of Hollywood talent, including Winona Ryder, Catherine O’Hara, and Willem Dafoe among others.

Limited and VOD Releases: Don’t Wait for Tomorrow to see a Limited Release
August 31st, 2018

There are only eight entries in the main list, and a couple of those didn’t have enough reviews, but I included anyway, because all of their reviews are currently positive. Inventing Tomorrow and Pick of the Litter are among a handful of documentaries that are worth checking out, as is Let the Corpses Tan.

2014 - Holiday Gift Guide - Part IV
December 20th, 2014
The final installment of our annual Holiday Gift Guide involves books, music, and whatever DVD and Blu-rays I forgot the first time around. Also, like every year, I use this as an opportunity do go over some screeners that arrived late and that I didn't have time to go through in-depth. Like I've said the first three times, I didn't feel like there was a huge amount of DVDs and Blu-ray that came out this year, so I really hope I didn't miss out much. We can start out with...

Featured Blu-ray / DVD Review: Frankenweenie
February 24th, 2013
Tim Burton is one of the most stylish directors around and while admittedly he sometimes lets the style get ahead of the story, he has still made many, many wonderful movies over the years. His latest is also one of his first. Way back in 1984, he made a short film called Frankenweenie. Last year, he remade the short as a feature-length stop-motion animated film, Frankenweenie. The film struggled to find an audience, but was that because it didn't deserve an audience? Or has Tim Burton burned up too much of the good-will he generated earlier in his career.
