DEG Watched At Home Chart: Preying for a Miracle

May 21, 2020

Birds of Prey

Birds of Prey hit DVD / Blu-ray / 4K last week, and that helped it shoot up the DEG Watched at Home chart from eighth place last week to land in first place. It looks like Warner Bros. should break even on this film before too long. On the downside, the studio only had two other entries in the top twenty, leaving Sony in first place in that regard with five releases in the top twenty this week.

Sony’s top release this week was Bloodshot, which slipped to second place. It wasn’t their only release in the top five as...

Bad Boys for Life landed in third place. It has spent a long time in the top five and Sony has to be extremely happy with its return on investment with this film.

For reasons I can’t explain, The Call of the Wild rose from ninth place to fourth place. The film bombed in theaters and it would take a minor miracle for it to break even on the home market, but at reaching the top five will at least cut into the losses.

This left Sonic the Hedgehog in fifth place. The film was one of the few box office hits of 2020 and Paramount’s biggest hit in over a year. Furthermore, it hit DVD / Blu-ray / 4K just this week, so it should rise on the chart next week.

Fantasy Island just missed the top five, opening in sixth place. Two other new releases were in the top 20. The Invisible Man earned 14th place thanks to its debut as a regular VOD release, having previously been a premium VOD release. Finally, Yellowstone: Season Two charted for the first time in 20th spot.
