Theater Averages: Chambermaid Cleans Up the Competition

July 3, 2019

The Chambermaid

The Chambermaid topped the theater average chart with $28,490 in one theater, which is double The Other Story’s opening of $14,163, also in one theater. The only other film in the $10,000 club was Toy Story 4, which remained in first place on the overall chart, while earning an average of $13,049.

The rest of the other new limited release mostly struggled. Maiden did well for a documentary with an average of $7,822 in six theaters. The Other Side of Heaven 2: Fire of Faith was playing in just over 200 theaters earning an average of $2,216 in the process. I’m a little surprised it didn’t open below the Mendoza Line. Three Peaks wasn’t as lucky with an opening of $1,419 in one theater. Finally, Ophelia only managed an average of $378 in 58 theaters.

There was only one limited release to reach a major milestone this week. The Dead Don’t Die got to $5 million before the weekend and will soon hit $6 million, but that’s as far as it will go.
