Theater Averages: Incredibles Tops Another Chart
June 20, 2018
The overall number one film, Incredibles 2, earned top spot on the theater average chart with an impressive average of $41,426. Only two other wide releases have started with bigger averages: Infinity War and Black Panther. The only new limited release in the $10,000 club was Eating Animals, which earned an average of $17,262. Finally, Won’t You Be My Neighbor earned an average of $10,445 in nearly 100 theaters, earning over $1 million in the process. This bodes well for its future.
There were not a lot of other new limited releases and only one of them didn’t struggle. That exception was Race 3, which earned an average of $5,385 in just over 300 screens. Gotti only managed an average of $3,419 in just over 500 theaters. This isn’t good, but we’ve seen many films that open in this many theaters completely bomb. Gabriel and the Mountain struggled with an average of $2,482 in two theaters. Straight Into a Storm just missed the Mendoza Line with $1,964 in one theater. Intersection only managed an average of $970 in two theaters, but it was playing on Video on Demand.
