Movie Websites Launches for July 30 - August 5
August 5, 2004
During the past week promotional websites for several movies were launched and some older ones added additional content. Here the list of this week's releases, a couple of new sites and few updates including the winner for the week, Saints and Soldiers. If you know of any new movie websites not on this list feel free to e-mail me with the details.
Alien vs. Predator
Current Content: A few more images were added to the site, as was a contest. But unlike our contests, this one is open only to those living in the States.
The Aviator
Current Content: Just the trailer so far.
Blade: Trinity
Current Content: Didn’t realize this before but you can change the background image by clicking on the little symbols at the bottom of the page.
BloodRayne
Current Content: Pretty simple site with most of the content still marked coming soon. So far just the synopsis, crew bios and some images are on the site.
Code 46
Current Content: No changes since last week.
Collateral
Current Content: The rest of the destinations were added, but there's a problem, the sound for some of the flash animation / video clips is too low. Sound balance is such a simple thing to do, so it's not acceptable when a site messes it up.
The Cookout
Current Content: A Burger Time like game was added to the site.
The Forgotten
Current Content: Just the trailer so far.
Friday Night Lights
Current Contents: Some photos were added to the site, but the trailer was removed. On a side note, the background music has some of the worst looping I've heard.
The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy
Current Content: Another entry in the production journal was added to the site.
Little Black Book
Current Content: No real changes since the flash site first launched.
Marilyn's Man
Current Content: Simple site that hits all the necessary marks but doesn't have much in the way of extras.
Open Water
Current Content: Just the synopsis, trailer, reviews and a survival guide.
Paparazzi
Current Content: The flash site launched this week, but it's a case of new format, same content.
Persons of Interest
Current Content: A very simple site but one with lots of information including information on the people profiled in the movie. The usual features for a documentary film are there, plus there are also a few clips and some images.
Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement
Current Content: The Coronation Archery game was added to the site, but the Mattress Surfing section, which had been marked coming soon is now gone.
Saints and Soldiers
Current Content: This is an excellent site that has all the usual features displayed in a superb way. First of all, there are four main sections, each section has plenty of areas to click on. Most give you an image, which can be sent as e-cards, but there are all of the traditional features as well: synopsis, cast and crew bios, (crew bios are marked coming soon) and both the teaser trailer and the full trailer. There is also some historical information as well as downloads spread throughout the site. Don't want to hunt down AIM Icons? No problem as all the features can also be found in the menu above. (Although if you send the time looking for them, you will unlock additional content. Even the volume knob is done with a bit of extra style. And it is that style that helps this site win the battling Weekly Website Award.
Serenity
Current Content: Last week the Non-Official Firefly Site had an MP3 of the ComicCon, this week it has several video clips to download. Just a warning, the sound isn't good on these clips and it might be difficult for some people to hear what is being said. But it's better than nothing.
Stander
Current Content: Good style, all the usual features, but not enough extras to stand out of the crowd.
Surviving Christmas
Current Content: Nothing but the name.
Suspect Zero
Current Content: The cast and crew bios were added.
Team America
Current Content: The trailer was added to the placeholder site.
The Woods
Current Content: Just the synopsis so far.
The Yes Men
Current Content: Just the trailer and a video introduction to the Yes Men as well as a link to their site.
Yu-Gi-Oh!
Current Content: The flash site launched and it has more than I thought it would. There's the synopsis and trailer as well as character bios and substantial production notes. The site even has clips for all 12 songs on the soundtrack.
