Synopsis

The story of a community of black people in the American South during the summer 2017, when a string of brutal killings of black men sent shockwaves throughout the country. A meditation on the state of race in America, this film is an intimate portrait into the lives of those who struggle for justice, dignity, and survival in a country not on their side.

Limited and VOD Releases: My Kingdom for a Turtle

August 16th, 2019

Buñuel in the Labyrinth of the Turtles

There are quite a few limited releases on this week’s list earning strong enough reviews to give them a chance at doing well in theaters. Of these, Kingdom and Buñuel in the Labyrinth of the Turtles are the two I’m most interested in, but I don’t think they are destined to find box office success. Unfortunately, I don’t think any of the films on this week’s list will find box office success. More...
