DVD and Blu-ray Releases for November 16th, 2010
November 16th, 2010
It's getting really close to Black Friday, which is sometimes reported as the busiest shopping day of the year. (It's not. That would be Christmas Eve.) So it should come as no surprise that there's a prime release this week, or should I say re-release. Avatar: Extended Collector's Edition on Blu-ray is the biggest, and arguably the best, release of the week and it is the Pick of the Week. However, there was some competition from The Kids Are All Right on DVD or Blu-ray.

DVD and Blu-ray Releases for March 30th, 2010
March 30th, 2010
The trailing end of the winter blockbuster releases are hitting the home market over the next month. This week we have two $200 million hits, Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel and Sherlock Holmes. There are also a few Oscar nominated movies: An Education and The Baader Meinhof Complex. Three of these four are worth picking up (as are a number of smaller releases) but none scream Pick of the Week.

Gomorrah Heats up the Per Theater Chart
February 18th, 2009
Gomorrah led the way on the per theater chart this weekend with an average of $15,540 in seven theaters. Second place went to Two Lovers with an average of $13,569, proving yet again there is no such thing as bad publicity. Under the Sea 3-D opened with $13,490, and it should be in theaters for at least a year, if not two. The final film in the $10,000 club was the overall box office leader, Friday the 13th, which opened with an average of $13,066 in more than 3,000 theaters.

Movie Website Reviews for the Weekend of February 13th, 2009
February 15th, 2009
Three wide releases and three limited releases on this week's list, and while most have good sites, none have great sites. And none are worthy of the Weekly Website Award.

Limited Releases make an Offer You Can't Refuse
February 13th, 2009
Only three limited releases on this week's list, but all three are earning amazing reviews. This includes an IMAX documentary, a foreign language drama, and possibly the last film Joaquin Phoenix promotes before he is taken away in a straight-jacket. Or starts his rap career. For his sake, I hope it's the former.
