DVD and Blu-ray Releases for March 24th, 2015
March 24th, 2015
There are three $100 million theatrical hits arriving on the home market this week, which is amazing. However, that's really all that's coming out this week. The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies is the biggest of these three hits, but it wasn't the best. The best is Into the Woods and given the lack of competition, the DVD or Blu-ray is the Pick of the Week.

Featured Blu-ray Review: The Sound of Music
March 21st, 2015
I've previously reviewed The Sound of Music, which is great news for me. It's late in the afternoon and I've only just started to get to work, because I spent most of the morning talking to my bank, because my credit card information was stolen. Since I have reviewed this film in the past, I will stick with how this is different than the previous Blu-ray release.

DVD and Blu-ray Releases for March 10th, 2015
March 11th, 2015
It's a short list this week for two reasons. The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 1's DVD and Blu-ray Combo Pack came out on Friday and this scared away the competition. This is also partially due to the fact that I'm dealing with what is clearly an alien disease. Friends came over on Saturday and one of them must have been infectious, because on Sunday my mouth tasted like salt. I Googled reasons why that could happen (never a good idea) and it turns out it could be from an infection. I used some Listerine to get rid of whatever bacteria was causing it, but the salty taste overpowered the flavor of the Listerine. That tells you how strong the salty taste was. The next day, the salty taste wasn't as bad, but my throat was killing me. I figured it was Strep throat. The next day, the salty taste was gone, my throat felt fine, but my sinuses were so clogged that the sinus pressure was making my teeth hurt. The next day, the sinus pressure was down dramatically, but I had sneezing attacks ever few minutes, including while I was trying to sleep. Today, the sneezing isn't as bad, but I have a bad cough and it feels like I broke a rib while sneezing. Clearly this isn't a normal cold, but instead I believe I am the subject of an alien experiment. Regardless, the best new release of the week is The Legend of Korra: Book Four: Balance and the DVD or Blu-ray is absolutely worth picking up. However, the best release on this week's list is The Tale of the Princess Kaguya. I finally got to the review of the Blu-ray Combo Pack and it is the Pick of the Week.

DVD Sales: The Toys are Back Indeed

Toy Story 3 dominated the new releases and this week's sales chart with 3.86 million units sold and $73.10 million in revenue. After just five days of sales, it is already in the top ten for 2010 and by now it might already be in the top three. We will find out next week when the numbers are in.

DVD and Blu-ray Releases for November 2nd, 2010
November 2nd, 2010
It's a good week in terms of quality as the biggest hit and the best movie of the year hits the home market this week. However, it appears that release might have scared away the competition. Of course, that release is Toy Story 3, and the 4-Disc Blu-ray / DVD Combo Pack, which is not only the Pick of the Week, it might be the Pick of the Year.

Featured Blu-ray / DVD Review: The Sound of Music
November 1st, 2010
It's The Sound of Music's 45th anniversary this year and the studio is celebrating by releasing the film on Blu-ray for the first time. I know the 45th anniversary doesn't sound like something a studio would celebrate, but at least fans won't have to wait another five years for it to make its High Definition debut.
