Synopsis
ME, a young man disillusioned by love, meets a breathtaking young woman, HER, at a charity dinner by pretending to be a philanthropist. Only one problem: she’s engaged. Wow. Slow week. There are a few releases that are notable, but we very quickly run into titles that would be considered filler during the average week. In fact, there are no first run releases that are contenders for Pick of the Week. There are a trio of limited releases that are in the running for that title: Time Lapse (DVD or Blu-ray or Video on Demand); Wild Tales (DVD or Blu-ray or Video on Demand); and The Wrecking Crew (DVD or Blu-ray or Video on Demand). There were also two catalog releases of note: The Cat Returns (Blu-ray Combo Pack) and Spirited Away (Blu-ray Combo Pack). Both are excellent, but Spirited Away is the better of the two films and it is the Pick of the Week.

Limited Releases: Not a Big Week for Limited Releases
May 8th, 2015
This week's list of limited releases isn't exactly short, but it is short on potential hits. Maggie and 5 Flights Up both have strong casts, but are playing in potentially too many theaters and also on Video on Demand. Noble is earning some of the best reviews, but its high theater count and lack of star power could hurt it. I Am Big Bird: The Caroll Spinney Story is also earning great reviews, but it is one of the rare documentaries that is taking the Video on Demand route.
