Synopsis
Recently arrived in London in the hope of writing one last book before succumbing to a fatal illness, American author Samson Young falls in with a cast of characters who just might give him the story he is looking for. First, there is Keith Talent a small- time crook and dart player always on the lookout for his next scam. Then there's Guy Clinch, an upper class banker who hangs out at Ned's favorite pub, searching for distraction from his boring life, his spoiled wife, and their monstrous toddler. And, just like a scene from a movie, into their lives walks Nicola Six, a spectacularly beautiful woman-of-mystery who instantly ensnares all three men with her charms. Of course, Ned and Keith want to possess her, but Sam sees something else-in Nicola he sees the heroine of the book he so desperately wants to write. Following her, studying her, and watching her become a different woman depending upon which man she is seducing, Sam starts weaving a tale, based on Nicola, or Nicola as he imagines her to be. He also discovers that the reason she lives like there's no tomorrow, is that she's fed up with her life and has secretly been plotting her own murder. Now that Sam knows the climax of his story, the only question is who will the murderer be? Is it Keith, the criminal, Guy, the millionaire, or is it Sam himself-a dying man practicing a dying art, who will do anything to end his book-and his life-with a big bang?

Home Market Releases for February 12th, 2019
February 13th, 2019
It’s a shallow week on the home market. That said, Bohemian Rhapsody was a monster hit, especially internationally. It isn’t a Pick of the Week contender, but we do have a trio of contenders: At Eternity’s Gate, Audition, and Shoplifters. It’s a close race, but Shoplifters came out on top.

Theater Averages: Suspiria Surprises with Yearly Best Average
October 31st, 2018
Suspiria led the theater average chart both over the weekend and for the year earning just over $180,000 in two theaters for an average of $92,019. This tops the previous average of $73,572 by Free Solo, although that movie was playing in four theaters. Up next was Can You Ever Forgive Me? with an average of $14,255 in 25 theaters during its second weekend of release. A couple of foreign-language films were next with Burning earning an average of $13,066 in two theaters and Border earning an average of $10,529 in seven.

Friday Estimates: Halloween Laps Competition with $10 million on Friday
October 27th, 2018
As expected, Halloween earned first place on Friday. It was a little weaker than expected at $10.02 million and Universal’s estimate for the weekend is $30.05 million, compared to our prediction of $33 million. A $30 million sophomore stint is still fantastic for a film that cost just $10 million to make; in fact, it cracked $100 million domestically on Friday, which is more than enough to pay for its combined production / advertising budgets.

Limited and VOD Releases: Limited Releases are Leaving us in Suspense
October 26th, 2018
It is a little difficult to figure out which limited release has the best shot at box office success. Suspiria has the loudest buzz, but its reviews are only good and not great. Shirkers’ reviews are great, but it is playing on Netflix, so it likely won’t go anywhere in theaters. Life & Nothing More, Border, Burning, and others could pick up the slack, but none jump out as guaranteed hits.
