Weekend predictions: Godzilla and Kong set to smash into theaters with weekend in the 70s or 80s

March 29th, 2024

Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire

Dune: Part Two’s $82.5 million opening weekend might not be the biggest of 2024 come Monday morning as Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire comes crashing into theaters this weekend. The monster movie racked up $10 million from previews on Thursday, just a little behind Dune’s $12 million previews a month ago. Our model doesn’t think the record will fall, but Godzilla could come close… More...

Weekend predictions: Ghostbusters looking to scare up $40 million on debut

March 22nd, 2024

Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire

Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire will top the box office chart this weekend fairly comfortably, knocking Kung Fu Panda 4 into second or third place, depending on how it holds on compared to Dune: Part Two. After a long dry spell, this could be the first weekend since August 4 last year to have three films earn over $20 million. More...

Weekend predictions: Dune could pull off surprise weekend win

March 15th, 2024

Dune: Part Two

Our model thinks Dune: Part Two has a good shot at beating Kung Fu Panda 4 at the box office this weekend. Arthur the King is likely to have the best weekend among the new releases, although The American Society of Magical Negroes and One Life will be looking to draw in some business with niche audiences. More...

Weekend predictions: Kung Fu Panda and Dune go head-to-head for weekend honors

March 8th, 2024

Kung Fu Panda 4

It’s looking like a tight race for box office glory this weekend with Kung Fu Panda 4 looking to unseat Dune: Part Two from the top of the chart. The race for third place is close too as this weekend’s other two new wide releases, Cabrini and Imaginary hope to bring in their own niche audiences. More...

Weekend predictions: One Love likely to stay number one on a busy weekend

February 23rd, 2024

Bob Marley: One Love

Bob Marley: One Love looks like a clear favorite to top the box office chart going into the weekend, although it has quite a bit of competition, with three new wide releases vying for spots at least in the top five. Demon Slayer: To the Hashira Training looks like its biggest threat from the numbers we’ve seen so far. More...
