Aquaman

Aquaman remained the top draw on the international market with $88.4 million on 23,360 screens in 78 markets for totals of $562.4 million internationally and $751.4 million worldwide. The film’s biggest new market was Australia where it opened with $7.94 million on 632 screens over the weekend for a total opening $11.04 million. Its biggest market overall is China where it added $11.45 million over the weekend to its running tally, which now sits at $261.28 million after four weeks of release. It overtook Suicide Squad for third place in the D.C.E.U. and it is not done yet.

Bumblebee climbed a spot to second place with $45.7 million in 55 markets for totals of $90.0 million internationally and $157.2 million worldwide. Its biggest opening was in the U.K., where it earned second place with $6.48 million in 587 theaters. It opened in third place in South Korea with $2.86 million on 843 screens over the weekend and $7.87 million since Christmas. It also opened in third place in France ($4.1 million) and Brazil ($3 million). Next up is China this weekend, while it doesn’t finish its run until March when it opens in Japan.

Mary Poppings Returns was next with $28.9 million in 37 markets for totals of $74.4 million internationally and $173.7 million worldwide. The film only managed seventh place in Mexico with $1.03 million over the weekend and $2.31 million from Christmas Day through Sunday. On the other hand, it remained in first place in the U.K. with $9.45 million over the weekend for a two-week total of $29.52 million.

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse fell to fourth place with $27.42 million on 20,460 screens in 78 markets for totals of $109.72 million internationally and $213.84 million worldwide. This is already more than it cost to make and advertise, so unless something goes horribly wrong on the home market, the film has guaranteed profitability. This week, the film opened in second place in Mexico with $2.14 million on 2,145 screens over the weekend for a total opening of $4.63 million. It only managed sixth place in Italy with $1.25 million on 451 screens over the weekend for a total opening of $2.15 million. The film was a Christmas Day release in both markets. The film fell 67% during its second weekend in China, but that’s not a terrible drop for this market. It added $8.50 million on 10,000 screens to its running tally, which now sits at $45.43 million. Again, this is a good result for an animated film in this market.

Kill Mobile opened in first place in China and fifth place internationally with $24.66 million over the weekend for a total opening of $24.71 million.
