Theater Averages: From A to Zucchini
March 1, 2017
My Life as a Zucchini topped the per theater chart with an average of $14,529 in two theaters. The only other film in the $10,000 club was the overall number one film, Get Out, which earned an average of $12,002.
The only other new limited release we have numbers for is Bitter Harvest, which bombed earning an average of $1,735 in 127 theaters.
This past week also saw milestones reached for a couple of Per Theater Chart alumni:
- Toni Erdmann topped $1 million before the weekend, but that is likely as far as it will go.
- Everybody Loves Somebody got to $1 million early last week. It could get to $2 million as early as this weekend.
- 2017 Oscar Shorts made it to $2 million just before the weekend and is already more than halfway to $3 million.
- I Am Not Your Negro has topped $4 million and will likely hit $5 million this coming weekend.
- Lion hit $40 million over the weekend. While it didn’t win any Oscars, it should still get to $45 million this weekend and $50 million isn’t entirely out of reach.
- La La Land has reached $140 million and is in the top twenty on the 2016 domestic chart.
- Hidden Figures got all the way to $150 million and it is just behind Trolls for 17th place on the 2016 domestic chart.
