It's a weird week for the DVD release report. According to Amazon, seven of the top ten releases come from two movie: WALL-E and Tropic Thunder. Add in the Spanish language edition and there are five versions of the former movie coming out this week, including the 3-Disc DVD and the 3-Disc Blu-ray, either one of which is worthy of the DVD Pick of the Week. The Canadian documentary, Up the Yangtze, led the way on the per theater chart this week scoring $15,851 in its lone theater. Holly was just a tiny percent behind with $15,687, also in one theater. Italian drama My Brother is an Only Child tops the Per Theater Averages chart, according to early estimates, with an impressive $10,500 debut in a single theater. Overall box office champ, 21 puts in a strong second place performance, followed by two limited releases with ambitions to expand. Heist movie Flawless did slightly better than French romantic comedy Priceless, but both scored an average of around $5,000 per theater, which will give them a chance to expand into more cities in the next few weeks.
