Weekend estimates: Uncharted and Dog post strong holds on slow weekend
February 27th, 2022
Uncharted and Dog are both taking advantage of the lack of competition to post strong second-week holds this weekend, as Studio 666 and Cyrano failed to extend their grasp beyond their core audience. Uncharted will end the weekend with $83.4 million in the bank, making it the second-highest grossing film in 2022, and the highest-grossing film released this year.

Weekend estimates: Spider-Man back to the top with $14.125 million on soft weekend
January 23rd, 2022
Spider-Man: No Way Home is back at the top of the box office chart this weekend, with Sony projecting it will earn $14.125 million this time around for a domestic total of $721 million. Scream will be down 59% from its opening (in line with our model’s prediction). Its $12.4 million takes it to $51.3 million so far. Redeeming Love is coming in well ahead of our Friday-morning prediction with $3.71 million over the weekend and will land in fourth place.

This weekend’s new wide releases look like they will struggle to mount a challenge at the top of the chart.

Weekend estimates: Scream breaks $30 million on debut as Spider-Man cruises to $700 million total
January 16th, 2022
Scream will debut with a solid $30.6 million over three days and $35 million over the four-day MLK Holiday weekend, according to Paramount’s Sunday morning projections. That will be easily enough to push Spider-Man: No Way Home into second place in its fifth weekend in release. Spidey will move past Black Panther on Monday to become the fourth-highest-grossing movie at the domestic box office.
