Synopsis

Antonio Santini and Dan Sickles’ immersion in the transgender community of Puerto Rico celebrates the breadth of experiences among trans-identifying women: from campaigning for government-recognized human rights, to working in the sex industry, to performing as part of the drag troupe “The Doll House.” Unapologetic and unconventional, Mala Mala explores the ways internal and external identity pave the path of self discovery through the unique yet universal stories of its fascinating cast of characters.

Better Call Saul: Season 1

There are a couple of big hits on this week's list of new releases. Terminator: Genisys was a monster hit internationally, but it failed to live up to expectations here. On the other hand, Trainwreck earned $100 million here, but barely made a peep internationally. Of these two films, Trainwreck is the only one worth picking up. In fact, it is a Contender for Pick of the Week. However, I'm still waiting for the screener and I hate to give out this title when a screener is on its way. Because of that, I'm going with Better Call Saul: Season One as the Best of the Best, but it isn't the only other title worth picking up. More...

Jimmy's Hall

There are a few limited releases on this week's list that are earning overwhelming positive reviews, but they are all documentaries. Documentaries rarely have breakout success, but Amy is the one with the best shot. Jimmy's Hall is the best of the rest and while I don't think it will expand wide, it should be the biggest hit on this week's list. More...
