Synopsis

Len is a punk rocker-turned-in-demand pop producer, who, following a very public meltdown, retreats to his country home for some time away from the pressures of the business. His solitude is interrupted, however, when he receives a visit from some surprise guests—his estranged son and pop star protégé—who arrive with complications of their own and who shake the prickly Len out of his stupor.

Ghostbusters

Ghostbusters is the biggest release of the week and the best first run release. Combined with its fully-loaded Blu-ray (extended edition), it is a Pick of the Week contender. There’s not much competition. The main competition is a new Collector's Edition Blu-ray for The Thing, but this is at least a double-dip, which hurts its value. There are a couple of smaller releases as well. In the end it was a literal coin toss to decide the Pick of the Week and Ghostbusters won. More...

Therapy for a Vampire

There are a few limited releases coming out this week that have a chance of finding an audience, but none that will expand significantly. De Palma is a must see for fans of the director, or of movie business documentaries in general. King Jack has perfect reviews, but it is also playing on Video On Demand. Therapy for a Vampire is the film I'm most interested in seeing, but while its reviews are great, it likely won't escape the art house circuit. More...
