Synopsis

A fast living, cynical London music executive heads to a remote Cornish village on a stag weekend where he’s pranked by his boss into trying to sign a group of shanty singing fishermen. He becomes the ultimate “fish out of water” as he struggles to gain the respect or enthusiasm of the unlikely boy band and their families who value friendship and community over fame and fortune. As he’s drawn deeper into the traditional way of life hes forced to reevaluate his own integrity and ultimately question what success really means.

However, I will admit Orange is the New Black: The Final Season (DVD) will have a much wider appeal and it is the Pick of the Week. The third contender for that title is Wonder Woman: The Complete Collection (Blu-ray). More...

VOD Releases: Are Audiences Feeling Friendly?

July 22nd, 2020

Fisherman’s Friends

Most of the major new releases on VOD are earning positive reviews this week. Of these, The Whistlers is the critical darling, but Fisherman’s Friends could find a larger audience. There’s also some strength in depth among the independent films and shows coming to a platform near you. More...
