Synopsis
Rose, a sweet, lonely driving instructor in rural Ireland, is gifted with supernatural abilities. Rose has a love/hate relationship with her ‘talents’ & tries to ignore the constant spirit related requests from locals — to exorcise possessed rubbish bins or haunted gravel. But! Christian Winter, a washed up, one-hit-wonder rock star, has made a pact with the devil for a return to greatness! He puts a spell on a local teenager- making her levitate. Her terrified father, Martin Martin, asks Rose to help save his daughter. Rose has to overcome the fear of her supernatural gift & work with Martin to save the girl, get the guy and be home in time for a light snack…maybe a yogurt or something…

VOD Releases: Harley Quinn Goes Digital
June 4th, 2020
There are some high quality new releases on VOD this week, and several are worth checking out, including Harley Quinn, and Sound! Euphonium the Movie — Our Promise: A Brand New Day. The lack of major theatrical releases over the past couple of months is really beginning to be felt on the home market now, though, with most releases smaller independent films.

DVD and Blu-ray Releases: Watchmen Arrives on Blu-ray and DVD
June 3rd, 2020
It could be a really expensive week on the home market, as there are a number of prime releases, as well as a few potential hidden gems. The Blu-ray special releases of Glengarry Glen Ross, Jaws, and One Cut of the Dead are all worth picking up, especially if you don’t already own the film on Blu-ray. The lack of impressive extras hurt Harley Quinn: The Complete First Season and Sound! Euphonium - Our Promise: A Brand New Day, but I still pre-ordered both of them. As for Pick-of-the-Week contenders, there were three titles battling for that honor: Star Trek: Short Treks, Tokyo Godfathers, and Watchmen: An HBO Limited Series. In the end, Watchmen gets the prize, but it was a close call.

VOD Releases: More than just Ordinary
May 29th, 2020
There are a lot of good films coming out on VOD this week, and even some great ones. Extra Ordinary is one of the great ones and it deserves to be seen by more. The High Note isn’t as good, but it is also one of the more high-profile releases and could have done well in wide release.

Theater Averages: First Cow Comes Home

First Cow was one of two films in the $10,000 club earning an average of $20,331 in four theaters. The Booksellers was the only other member of the $10,000 club opening with $15,794 in its lone theater.

Limited and VOD Releases: Bitter Pill to Swallow
March 6th, 2020
There are way too many limited releases and I fear this will hurt the box office chances of any film coming out this week. This is too bad, as there are several that deserve to find an audience, including Bacurau, Extra Ordinary, First Cow, Go Back to China, and so many more. It’s going to be tough when none of the films open in the $10,000 club.

Limited and VOD Releases: A Lot to Love on This Week’s List
September 27th, 2019
There are a lot of excellent films on this week’s list. Not only that, but there are a wide selections of films as well. Do you want to watch a documentary? Anthropocene: The Human Epoch is your best bet. Want to watch a potential Oscar-winning performance? Then Judy is for you. Want a Neo-Noir love story? First Love has what you need. Want to stay home and watch something on VOD? There are several choices there, both big and small.
