Weekend predictions: John Wick shooting for $75 million plus this weekend
March 24th, 2023
John Wick: Chapter 4 will continue the remarkable run for the John Wick franchise by earning more on opening weekend than John Wick: Chapter 3—Parabellum, just as that movie beat the opening weekend of John Wick: Chapter Two, which had a better opening weekend than the original John Wick. It’s a rare franchise that manages to grow business with each new release, and an even rarer one that gets better reviews with each outing. But this is one of them. Exactly how much it’ll make this weekend remains a little uncertain, but things are looking very, very good.

Weekend predictions: Scream could make second $50-million start in two weeks
March 10th, 2023
Scream VI is looking like a surefire winner at the box office this weekend after growing buzz over the past few weeks and strong reviews (for a horror film) built up to $5.7 million in previews on Thursday, considerably more than the $3.5 million earned by Scream (V) last year. Its predecessor earned $30 million on opening weekend, and $50 million looks within reach for Scream VI this weekend.

Weekend predictions: $40 million on the cards for Creed III
March 3rd, 2023
Creed III looks likely to have the best opening weekend for a film in the Creed franchise, which (not adjusted for inflation) would also give it the best opening for a Rocky movie too, at least based on its excellent $5.45 million in previews, and our model’s expectations. Operation Fortune: Ruse de guerre looks like an also-ran, unfortunately. Meanwhile, Ant-Man and Cocaine Bear keep things interesting as our model picks apart this weekend’s box office prospects.
