Synopsis
This intense action-thriller unfolds in real time as two embattled souls fight for their lives. A vicious crime boss is out to kill Nick, the lone witness set to testify against him. He hires a mysterious female motorcycle courier to unknowingly deliver a poison-gas bomb to slay Nick, but after she rescues Nick from certain death, the duo must confront an army of ruthless hired killers in order to survive the night.

Home Market Releases for January 21st, 2020

It’s an odd week for the home market, as there are four wide releases coming out this week, which is more than most weeks. However, none of them were $100 million hits domestically, so it feels slow on top. That said, The Addams Family did come close to that mark and Zombieland: Double Tap was a solid midlevel hit. As for high quality releases, Jay And Silent Bob Reboot will very likely please fans of the franchise, but I’m unsure about its ability draw in newcomers. Finally, the Pain & Glory is the best of the best and only the lack of substantial extras prevents it from winning Pick of the Week with ease. Zombieland: Double Tap has much better extras, so it a contender for Pick of the Week as well. Pain & Glory does win, but it is relatively close.

Limited and VOD Releases: Shine a Light on Dark Releases

There are not a lot of limited releases on this week’s list, but a few are earning the buzz and reviews needed to find an audience in theaters. This includes Dark Waters, the biggest release of the week, as well as Varda by Agnès, which could become a breakout hit for a documentary.
