Synopsis

Brothers Dave and Kenny are lumpen Flemish hoodlums whose ineptitude causes Kevin to take the fall when a heist goes wrong. Four years later, Kevin is out of prison, but, as he slowly learns, things have changed. Unbeknownst to Kevin, his girlfriend Sylvie, has moved in with his brother Dave and is pregnant with his baby. Witnessing one of the uneasiest family Christmas dinners ever, as well as Kevin’s ill-fated stint working at a car wash. Anger management is not Kevin’s strong suit. Indeed, his feral impulses soon put the brothers on the wrong side of the law again, and in awkward collusion with Kevin’s old cellmate Stef, amid a gallery of bizarre characters in the depths of the forest that gives the film its name.

Theater Averages: The New Year has a Patriotic Start

The theater average chart was dominated by holdovers, as is the norm this time of year. The top film was Patriots Day with an average of $14,972 in seven theaters. This bodes very well for its wide expansion next weekend. 20th Century Women is becoming a sleeper hit earning an average of $13,047 in ten theaters. This is one of those films that should be earning more Awards Season buzz, but I fear it has slipped between the cracks.
