Theater Averages: Quiet Weekend

June 27, 2019

Toy Story 4

There weren’t many new releases to talk about, but a surprising percentage of them landed in the $10,000 club. This includes the overall box office champ, Toy Story 4, which opened with an average of $26,428. Wild Rose was the best of the limited releases earning an average of $13,235 in four theaters, while Toni Morrison: The Pieces I Am was right behind with an average of $12,013, also in four theaters.

There was only one other new limited release, The Quiet One, which missed the Mendoza Line with an average of just $1,283 in six theaters.

This past week also saw milestones reached for a few Per Theater Chart alumni:

  • All is True made it to $1 million just before the weekend, but that’s as far as it will go.
  • Echo in the Canyon got to $1 million during the weekend and it has an excellent shot at $2 million.
  • Likewise, Pavarotti also made it to $1 million during the weekend and it too should get to $2 million before long.
  • The Last Black Man in San Francisco reached $1 million over the weekend and it still has room to grow.
  • The Biggest Little Farm hit $3 million before the weekend and it has a shot at $4 million.
  • The Dead Don’t Die made it to $4 million over the weekend, but while it should reach $5 million soon, it will also start losing theaters very soon.
  • Late Night reached $10 million, but it will see its theater count take a real hit this weekend.
