International Box Office: Avengers Tops $1 billion in Record Time

Avengers: Infinity War became the fastest film to reach $1 billion, getting there is just ten days. That’s really impressive for a film that hasn’t even opened in China yet. This weekend, the film earned $162.6 million in 54 markets for totals of $713.3 million internationally and $1.166 billion worldwide. The only new major market of the weekend was Russia, where it broke the record for biggest opening with $17.6 million. To put this into perspective, Civil War made $16.49 million in that market, in total. The film is already the biggest all-time hit in Brazil ($44.3 million); Indonesia ($20.6 million); and the Philippines ($19.7 million). The two biggest markets so far are South Korea, where it has made $69.76 million, including $17.03 million on 2,224 screens this past weekend, while the U.K. is very close behind with $67.2 million.
Us and Them earned $25.81 million over the weekend for a two-week total of $191.11 million in its native China.
Rampage remained in third place with $14.1 million on 11,402 screens in 63 markets for totals of $294.0 million internationally and $378.8 million worldwide. The film debuted in second place in France behind Avengers: Infinity War with $2.2 million on 473 screens. Meanwhile, the film earned $7.82 million in China for a four-week total of $149.51 million.
A or B remained in second place in China and fourth place internationally with $11.31 million over the weekend for a two-week total of $48.04 million.
Baahubali 2: The Conclusion rounded out the top five thanks to its fourth place $7.63 million debut in China. Adding in its previous run in its native India, as well as other markets, gives the film $244.6 million internationally and $263.6 million worldwide.
