Theater Averages: Life’s A Beach

There was only one film to earn more than $10,000 on the theater average chart. Beach Rats earned an average of $15,484 in three theaters, putting it heads and shoulders above the rest of the new releases.
There were only a few other new limited releases that avoided the Mendoza Line ($2,000/theater). Polina was the best of the rest with an average of $6,294 in two theaters. The Mayweather vs. McGregor special event earned an average of $4,925 in 532 theaters. There will be more events like this in the future. The Villainess was the only other film to not open below the Mendoza Line earning $4,238 in its lone theater.
There were many new limited releases that missed the Mendoza Line, some by large margins. The best of this group was All Saints with an average of $1,790 in over 800 theaters. Gentleman: Sundar, Susheel, Risky earned an average of $1,419 in 135 theaters. The Legend of the Naga Pearl was next with an average of $1,281 in four theaters. Served Like a Girl was well back with an average of $461 in 4 theaters. Red Christmas rounded out the new releases with $280 in one theater.
