Notes and Reactions...
- While La La Land was easily the biggest winner of the night with seven wins. It won every category is was nominated in. ... However, I’m already hearing people compare it to The Artist and not as a compliment. Both earned stellar reviews and are Awards Season darlings, but The Artist is now considered overrated and many think it only won because it was a love letter to Hollywood.
- The only other film to earn more than one award was Elle, which picked up Best Foreign-Language Film and Best Actress in a Drama for Isabelle Huppert.
- On the other hand, a lot of people are arguing Moonlight was robbed with only one win: Best Drama. Personally, I think it should have won Best Director, Best Screenplay, and certainly Best Supporting Actor.
- Zootopia won for Best Animated Film, which is no surprise.
