Movie Websites Launches for July 16 - July 22
July 22, 2004
During the past week promotional websites for several movies were launched and some older ones added additional content. Here the list of this week's releases, a couple of new sites and few updates including the winner for the week, Aliens vs. Predator - Offical Site. If you know of any new movie websites not on this list feel free to e-mail me with the details.
Note: I'm trying a new approach this week. All previous award-winning website will have their names in bold so they can be easily identified. This week's winner will still be identified as before.
Alien vs. Predator
Current Content: Another featurette was added to this site this week. This one is called, "A New World Vision" and it deals with not only the set, but also the vehicles and props as well. This site as been slowly building for months now, and it really deserves to be recognized for its high quality. Not only does it have all the usual features, synopsis, cast and crew bios, trailers, etc. It also has a massive amount of video: four trailers and four featurettes, not to mention all the imbedded animation. Combine that with the excellent use of background 'music' and you have the winner of the voracious Weekly Website Award.
The Blind Swordsman: Zatoichi
Current Content: The film opens tomorrow, but there were no new updates this week.
The Bourne Supremacy
Current Content: Four clips were added to this award-winning site.
Catwoman
Current Content: Nothing new was added in time for tomorrow's release, but the site is still quite good. And if the reviews are any indication, its probably better than the movie itself.
Chooch
Current Content: As I've said before, every site should have a hook, something that sets it apart from the crowd. This site has one and it's the music video featuring Kiwi the dachshund.
Collateral
Current Content: The cast and crew bios were added to the site, as was a feature called Destinations. Each of the six destinations are still marked coming soon.
Free Radicals
Current Content: Simple site with just the synopsis, cast and crew (no bios) and the trailer.
Garden State
Current Content: There are some new entries on Zach Braff's Weblog. They deal mostly with the premiere and the after party.
The Green Hornet
Current Content: Four more pieces of news was added to the site, but only one was even remotely connected to The Green Hornet.
A Home at the End of the World
Current Content: This site hits all the major points, (synopsis, trailer, etc.) and has enough sound and animation to keep the surfer interested.
Ju-On: The Grudge
Current Content: No new updates in time for this week's release.
National Treasure
Current Content: The placeholder site has the trailer, the poster and a smart trailer. The smart trailer has nine extra consisting of some images and video. That's a lot of content for a placeholder site.
Paparazzi
Current Content: Placeholder site with just the synopsis and the trailer.
Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement
Current Content: The flash site launched this week but most of the changes were superficial in nature. Granted, the site now looks like an Apple Powerbook, but most of the regular features are the same as they were on the placeholder site, synopsis, trailer cast and crew (no bios.) And most of the extras are marked coming soon, (Find a Prince, Queen Lessons, etc.) Until these features are added, the effectiveness of the website is too hard to determine.
Raise Your Voice
Current Content: Placeholder site with just the synopsis, trailer, image gallery and some downloads.
Ray
Current Content: The trailer was added to the site.
Serenity
Current Content: I think one of the pictures from the Weblog was removed. There was also an update on the Non-Official Firefly Site that consisted of several behind the scenes / fan reports. Also worth nothing, if you are a member of the Browncoats there are new trivia / poll questions available.
Super Babies: Baby Geniuses 2
Current Content: Just the synopsis, trailer and image gallery so far.
Suspect Zero
Current Content: The remote viewing section of the website was added this past week. Of course, I'd suggest going to JREF for a more accurate appraisal of Remote Viewing.
The Village
Current Content: The section on director M. Night Shyamalan was added to the site.
Without a Paddle
Current Content: The cast and crew bios were added to the site, as was the image gallery. This is turning into a very fun site.
