Movie Website Updates for September 16 - September 22
September 22, 2005
During the past week promotional websites for several movies were launched and some older ones added additional content. Here the list of this week's releases, a couple of new sites and few updates. This week's list is a little shorter than usual partially because I'm moving today and had to complete the list on Wednesday. Because of this there was no site that really stood out as deserving the Weekly Website Award; perhaps next week there will be two winners.
Bee Season
Chicken Little
Daltry Calhoun
Dear Wendy
Dirty Love
Elizabethtown
Flight Plan
Good Night, and Good Luck
A History of Violence
The Ice Harvest
In Her Shoes
Kids in America
Magnificent Desolation: Walking on the Moon 3D
Matador
Memoirs of a Geisha
Nanny McPhee
North Country
Paradise Now
Roll Bounce
Saw 2
Serenity
Stay
Waiting...
The flash site launched and I really like the intro that has a very interesting choice for a menu system. The rest is pretty standard stuff with the usual features plus a couple of extras, Experience and Kaleidoscope, both marked coming soon.
A Tetris-like game was added to the site this week.
The film opens on Friday, bit the trailer is still marked coming soon. Granted it's still early so I'll check back later to see if it is still marked coming soon.
No real changes in a long time, but it's an award winning site, so there was little that needed changing.
No changes since last week, which means the trailer is still marked coming soon. ... Just checked back and the trailer has been added, but it does little to improve my opinion of the movie.
Most of the rest of the video features were added to the site leaving just the interviews marked coming soon from that section.
The section on the plane was added to the site, but it wasn't nearly as interesting as I was hoping for.
All the usual features are here with a couple of TV spots marked coming soon. There's not much in the way of style, but the background music is cool and fits with the overall mood.
Not much has changed in a while.
Just the trailer so far, but its worth checking out.
Just the usual features with some clips marked coming soon.
The placeholder site underwent a complete redesign and now looks much more marketable, but I'm not sure that's a compliment. There's a new trailer that does a better job at explaining the movie, but I preferred the other one for other reasons.
No real changes in a while.
There are no features yet as everything is marked coming soon.
The trailer was added. The hype surrounding it suggests that it's a frontrunner for an Oscar this year, but that may have negatively impacted my initial reaction to the trailer. If expectations were lower, I probably would have liked it more.
Just the synopsis and trailer so far.
Another flash site that launched this week. This one has almost as much information on the book it is based on than the movie itself. The site isn't bad, but there's little here to make it stand out; however, I don't think a flashy site would work given the themes and mood of the film.
The site has all the usual features and a little bit of style.
The movie opens tomorrow and they updated the site... by removing all the features that were still marked coming soon.
The new trailer is online, but I don't think it's on the site yet. You can use the following links to watch it though: Small, Medium, Large, and Massive.
Another week, another update, this time more of the regular features were added in the form of Production Notes and Cast & Crew Bios. Oh, and there are also six more clips to watch. Personally, I can't wait for this movie.
Just a short synopsis, cast & crew list, and the trailer.
The kitchen was added, as were two clips.
