Movie Website Updates for October 21 - October 27, 2006
October 28, 2006
There was a good selection of sites this week in terms of updates, but unlike last week there were fewer contenders for the Weekly Website Award. That's not to say Let's Go to Prison - Official Site didn't deserve to win, it just had a lot less competition than it would have had if it launched last week.

No changes in a while. The site is very small and not very effective.
New video blog is online. This week's is on some of the creature makeup in the movie.
A ton of video clips were added to the site. It looks to be a very powerful film with limited mainstream appeal.
Just the synopsis, image gallery, and trailer so far. Actually, the trailer is on another site, which I don't like. That particular site has a tendency to crash my browser.
Site's gone. I'll check back later to see if it has returned. ... Yep, it's back.
This week's blog is about the music in the movie.
Simple site with all the usual features and just a bit of sound and animation but not enough to stand out. (I really like the background music, however.)
No real changes since the site last appeared on this list. Still a very good site, especially compared to sites for other documentaries. However, it is not quite good enough to be an award-winning site.
All the usual features are here with enough sound and animation to not be boring, but not enough to really stand out.
A six-part making of featurette was added to the site. This would not be out of place as an extra on the DVD.
Not a bas site with all of the usual features, but it doesn't feel very polished.
The site has been completely redesigned and features a smattering of new features including the basics like synopsis, image gallery and the new trailer. There are also seven sections for the main characters, but right now only one is up and it just contains some downloads.
This site is not safe for work! Unless you telecommute like me, then you can pretty much visit any site you want. Ha, ha, ha. Moving on. There's not much new here in terms of content, but the style is completely redone.
Simple site that is not very effective at selling the film.
New look, but not much new content. In fact, there's not much content, period. Just the synopsis, image gallery, poster and trailer.
New Look for the placeholder site to match the new trailer. I'm not sure if I prefer the new trailer more than the old one, but both make me want to see more of the movie.
The flash site launched this week and it has all of the usual features, mostly. It the synopsis, image gallery and trailer so far with production notes marked coming soon. This leaves out cast & crew bios, but that might fit under the production notes. Where this site shines is in the extras department. There's the game, Bighouse Beatdown, which is similar to very old school fighting games, (think Street Fighter 1), the personality test, (I would become someone's property), and the instructional section, How to Stay Out of Prison. This last feature is the best cause it combines audio and video clips with some humorous text. Plus, there's a whole section of the prison, the Showers, marked coming soon. I'm still 90% convinced that this movie is going to suck, but that's actually an improvement from before I explored the site. So after that little bit of faint praise, I'm happy to give the site the incarcerated Weekly Website Award.
The second webisode was added, which mostly deals with the house where the film is set. I'm glad there's an update on this site, but all the other webisodes that were previously marked coming soon are now gone. I think there will be more added later on, but probably not as many as were announced.
A music video was added to the site.
Just the trailer so far.
The flash site is up, but besides the basics there are just some clips that play as intros to some of the sections.
The blog has really improved recently. For the most part it has just been images with a short description, now we are getting some actual insight with Stallone answering a few questions.
A music video was added to the site
The site is hidden behind a proof of age barrier that demands more information than I am willing to give out over the Internet.
A re-direct to MySpace. I hate MySpace. There are a couple of clips on the site, which was nice, but I'd rather they had a real site.
Just the synopsis, image gallery, and trailer so far. As for the trailer, I liked it. Then again, there's a lot of actors in this movie that I really, really like so I may be a little biased towards the project.
The answers to the trivia questions were revealed this week.
A new feature was added to the site, "Rock the Internet." It allows you to input a site and let Tenacious D rock it!
The flash site went live this week and it includes the usual features, (production notes, cast & crew bios, and TV spots are still marked coming soon), as well as some extras. The only extras on the site at the moment are some characters bios, but there are games and clips marked coming soon and until they are added to the site, it is too early to judge it completely.
A series of new publicity photos were added to the site this week.
