Alice Overtakes Kells on the Per Theater Chart

March 16, 2010

Just like last week, there were only two films to top $10,000 on the per theater chart. In fact, these were the same two films that managed the same feat last week. However, they finished in the opposite order with Alice in Wonderland taking the top spot with an average of $16,822 per theater while The Secret of Kells earned $12,537 in one theater.

The best of the new limited releases was Mother, which earned an average of $5,976 in six theaters, while The Exploding Girl was right behind with $5,910 in one theater. Children of Invention was well back with an average of $2,437 in two theaters. Finally, Tales From the Script missed the Mendoza Line with $1,938.

This past week also saw milestones reached for a few Per Theater Charts alumni:

  • Ghost Writer appears to have peaked at the box office, but it still managed to top $3 million since last week and $4 million over the weekend. It has at least one more milestone ahead of it.
  • The Last Station hit $5 million over the weekend, but that could be its final milestone.
  • Crazy Heart made it to $30 million last Monday and it is nearly at $35 million. With Jeff Bridges' Oscar win, the film could reach $50 million, maybe even more.
