Per Theater Chart: Maleficent Holds Off Trio of Limited Releases
June 3, 2014
The overall box office leader, Maleficent, also led the way on the per theater chart with an average of $17,586 in nearly 4,000 theaters. Korengal was the best of the limited releases earning $14,630 in one lone theater. Night Moves was close behind with an average of $12,050 in two theaters. The final $10,000 film was Elena with $10,341 in one theater.
None of the rest of the new limited releases were bombs, but none were big hits either. We are the Best earned an average of $5,888 in three theaters, which is good, but not great. Lucky Them was next with $3,728 in one theater, which is a slow start. The Grand Seduction earned an average of $3,444 in 94 screens. Granted, this isn't a great per theater average, but it isn't bad for a film playing in that many theaters. Filth was playing in three theaters in the United States and earned an average of $2,509.
