Synopsis

A respected, veteran deputy with the sheriff’s office and happily married father, Colton Miller leads a well-lived life on behalf of his young family, the community and the Lord. But when he witnesses his partner, best friend and spiritual mentor, David, gunned down by an unknown assailant, Colton abruptly becomes entangled in a downward spiral, suffering from PTSD and left questioning God. Tensions rise with his wife—who begs him to reach out for help—as a defiant Colton continues to experience flashbacks, stumbling through days at work and suffering through the long, dark nights that stretch ahead of him. When officers respond to a drive-by shooting where a child has been killed, Colton is pushed to the limit in his struggle with God and hits rock bottom… finally asking for guidance. Starting to find his way back to solid ground spiritually, Colton also begins to reclaim his life at home and work. But when a domestic violence disturbance between a “harmless alcoholic” and his estranged wife—both well-known to the department— unexpectedly erupts into deadly violence, Colton’s flashbacks return… revealing a staggering truth.
