DVD Rentals - New Releases Show Quantity over Quality

DVD Releases for September 18, 2007

September 18th, 2007

There are even more TV on DVD releases this week, many of them worth adding to your DVD collection. I would say that fans of TV on DVD might be tempted to mortgage their house in order to pay for all of the great sets coming out, but after the sub-prime meltdown, that's probably no longer an option. As for the DVD Pick of the Week, I decided to go with a David Hewlett double-shot with both Stargate Atlantis - The Complete Third Season and A Dog's Breakfast winning that honor. More...

Surfer Overshadows Limited Releases on Per Theater Chart

June 19th, 2007

Only one new release topped $10,000 on the per theater chart this week, and only two films in total were able to do that. That new release was the overall box office leader, Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer, which pulled in an average of $14,663. The only holdover was 12:08 East of Bucharest with $10,108 in its lone theater. More...

Once is Number One on Per Theater Chart

May 22nd, 2007

Once won a close race for top spot on the per theater chart, just topping Shrek the Third $30,951 to $29,507. Brand Upon the Brain! held up better than expected, earning an average of $18,907 in its three theaters while Chalk was the only other film to top $10,000 with $13,363. More...

The Valet Parks on Top of Per Theater Chart

April 24th, 2007

Again, only one film was able to top $10,000 on the per theater chart this weekend. This time it was The Valet that made the grade, as it earned close to $70,000 in 6 theaters for a average of $11,259. More...

Movie Website Updates for April 15 - April 21, 2007

April 21st, 2007

There were a few new flash sites to launch this week, but while there might be a couple future winners among those sites, it was a long time resident on this week's list that walked away with top honors. That site was Hot Fuzz - Official Site, which probably could have won several weeks ago if the features were added all at once. However, it's much better to spread the updates out in order to get people coming back week after week. More...

Limited Releases are Trippin' Out

April 20th, 2007

Looking at this week's list of limited releases, it's hard to pick a definite winner. Stephanie Daley has potential given its cast and reviews while The Tripper has a wide advantage in theater count, which could give it the edge this weekend. There are also a handful of foreign language films and one of them might surprise, but overall it doesn't look like a very strong batch of limited releases. More...
