Synopsis

Following the death of her mother, Abby, a troubled young woman with a checkered past, returns to her hometown of Niagara Falls and the dilapidated motel her family used to run. While there, she finds herself drawn once again into a mystery that has haunted her since childhood: what happened to the young boy she saw being violently abducted in the woods twenty-five years ago? As Abby sets out to find out the truth, she must confront both a shocking, long-buried conspiracy that runs as deep as the falls themselves as well as her own inner demons. Bristling with an air of surreal menace, this mood-drenched thriller is a tantalizing psychological puzzle box that unfolds in the hallucinatory realm between reality and perception.

VOD Releases: More than just Ordinary

Extra Ordinary

There are a lot of good films coming out on VOD this week, and even some great ones. Extra Ordinary is one of the great ones and it deserves to be seen by more. The High Note isn’t as good, but it is also one of the more high-profile releases and could have done well in wide release. More...

Limited and VOD Releases: Hero or Zero?

My Hero Academia: Heroes Rising

My Hero Academia: Heroes Rising is easily the biggest limited release on this week’s chart. Also, its reviews are really good. Hopefully it won’t be the only box office hit on this week’s list, but I fear it could be. There are several films like Blood On Her Name, Saint Frances, and more with impressive Tomatometer Scores, but less impressive average ratings, so maybe they are better fits for the home market.
