It's like the week of the
Western with that genre making appearances in nearly every category, Special Edition, Box Sets, TV on DVD. But while there are certainly some that were in the running for DVD Pick of the Week, (
Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid -
2-Disc Collector's Edition, for instance), it was a limited release that is the DVD Pick of the Week. And that film is
Sarah Silverman - Jesus is Magic -
Buy from Amazon, but I fully admit my pro-
Sarah Silverman bias has something to do with this decision.

During a weekend where records were set at the top of the box office, it was a
documentary that won the race on the Per Theatre Charts.
An Inconvenient Truth set a record for highest per theatre average for a
documentary with more than $280,000 in 4 theatres for an average of $70,333; also, since its debut last Wednesday the film has earned nearly $500,000. Second place when to the aforementioned chart-topping
X-Men: The Last Stand, which earned a very impressive average of $27,846 in 3,690 theatres. The final film to top $10,000 was
Fanaa, which just missed the top ten on the overal charts with $753,067 in 72 theatres for an average of $10,459. This is much better than expected, but as a niche market film, it is unlikely to have strong legs.

There's a huge selection of limited releases this weekend with nine film's listed below. And that's not counting the nearly half-a-dozen films expanding to take advantage of their
Oscar Nods. On a side note, as you can probably tell by how late this story is, I am still sick. Good news, I'm over the worst of it. Bad news, according to the news story I saw, the symptoms should last another one to two weeks. (You know a particular strain is bad when they do a story about it on the local news.)

During the past week promotional websites for several movies were launched and some older ones added additional content. We've hit another slow patch for movie websites, which is not unexpected since the most of the new site on this list are for films that open months from now so there's hardly any content, or open during the dead zone that is January. I would say the best of the rest would be
King Kong -
Official Site, but it is not strong enough to win the Weekly Website Award.

Flightplan fell out of the top five with $5.13 million on 2,430 screens in 38 markets for a total of $94.65 million on the international scene.
It did fall from second to sixth on this week's charts, but it should still reach $100 million by this time next week. Its best market of the weekend was the U.K. where it remained in second place with $2.14 million on 416 screens for a two-week total of $6.59 million.

Here's this week's round-up of international box office numbers.
In Her Shoes fell out of the top five this week with $3.95 million on 2,050 screens in 23 markets for a $30.60 million international box office.
The film held up amazingly well in Spain, dropping just 8% to $810,000 on 290 screens, but it wasn't as fortunate in France where it lost more than half its opening, earning $400,000 on 293 screens, falling out of the top ten in the process.
It suffered a similar fate during its third weekend in the U.K. where it was down 55% to $736,000 on 268 screens, but the film already has $7.06 million there, which is better than its domestic run if you take into account the relative sizes of the two markets.
